Our Founder
Jumuiya Consulting Group is led by Sarita Turner, a nationally recognized strategist with extensive experience working across government, philanthropy, and nonprofit sectors—including leading small community-based organizations—to advance community-centered economic and environmental outcomes.
Sarita’s commitment to this work is rooted in both lived experience and professional leadership. Her connection to the communities and challenges that shape this work informs her approach to strategy: grounded in real-world experience, attentive to community needs, and focused on translating institutional commitments into meaningful results.
Advanced Training & Credentials
Sarita’s leadership is further strengthened by advanced training and certifications in strategy, leadership, and finance, including executive education through The Wharton School Chief Strategy Officer program, certification as a Social & Emotional Intelligence Coach, and a Mini MBA in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. She is a Bush Foundation Leadership Fellow and has completed advanced training through the James P. Shannon Leadership Institute. These experiences reinforce her ability to guide organizations through complex strategic decisions, align resources with impact, and build systems that support long-term outcomes.
Experience & Leadership
She has held leadership roles at small community-based organizations and at national institutions, including PolicyLink, the Institute for Sustainable Communities, the State of Minnesota, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Across these roles, she led national, statewide, and local initiatives focused on community development, sustainability and resilience building, access to economic opportunity, and equitable access to public funding and philanthropic investment.
Her work has shaped national funding strategies, guided cross-sector coalitions, and developed grantmaking and technical assistance models rooted in the needs of disinvested communities. This combination of lived and professional expertise informs Jumuiya Consulting Group’s approach: rigorous strategy, practical implementation, and trusted partnerships.
